A lot of great changes have been taking place at Sonatype in the past month. The Maven Company is thrilled to announce Wayne Jackson as Sonatype's new CEO. Jackson previously held the positions of CEO at Sourcefire and Riverbed, two of the most successful technology startups of the past 10 years.

With Jackson coming on board, Sonatype moves its headquarters from Silicon Valley to Maryland. The move recently caught the eye of the Washington Business Journal, among others.

It may seem counterintuitive that a startup — one whose clients include major West Coast tech firms — would leave the epicenter of the nation’s tech industry for the Maryland suburbs. But Jackson says the Washington area has the talent pool and the geographic position to make it an ideal place to hang a shingle.
